Welcome to Columbia: Kelman & Swartz

Kelman & Swartz, Brass &Bronze Trading, LLC

Tim Swartz, a lifelong Columbia resident has opened a new store in town, located at 305 Locust Street. Tim indicated that he has been associated with the scrape recycling industry for over 40 years. He travels extensively to recycling facilities all over the United States and Canada. He searches for items that do not belong in a scrap yard. He acquires that item and restores it to a new life. His store has a huge collection of brass and bronze ornaments of a historical nature. His wood stoves are all restored and date back to the late 19th century. He also has on display a collection of 1950 era vintage “pedal” cars. Tim further stated that the best way to describe his store is to come in and browse.

The store opened in June 2021. Tim indicated that it has always been a dream of his to sell something meaningful and without having to charge an outrageous price. He wants his customers to leave his store knowing they not only purchased a collector’s item, but also at a reasonable price. Tim states that we must keep the next generation interested in what was apart his generation’s growing up years.

Tim’s clientele is from all over the United States. He has now begun the early stages of creating a website. He enjoys the local traffic that comes through his store and appreciates knowing that they are leaving with something that was not on their wish list.

Tim believes that history always repeats itself and he knows Columbia is blessed with visionaries and dedicated people. It was an easy choice for him to start his small business here.

Store hours are typically from Tuesday through Sunday 10:00AM - 5:00PM.
